Be BACK TO SCHOOL Ready!

📚 Are you ready for BACK TO SCHOOL? As much as we love our summer break, it’s really hard not to think about the new year that’s creeping up on us. I’m here to make your life easier! Plan ahead, and get ready for an amazing first day, week, and month of school.

First off, if you’re new to teaching, this free CHECKLIST might help! It’s just some tips to help you get through your first day.

As you think about the new school year, is your classroom prepared for a substitute? If your answer is no, or you’re not sure, read my post on The Importance of Emergency Sub Plans!

During those first few days and weeks of school, you need to make sure you’re keeping students engaged. In addition to establishing the rules and procedures of your classroom, make sure you have some fun activities that students will enjoy working on. I like to have ALL ABOUT ME activities because it’s easy for students to write about what they like.

Here are some activities that will help you get through the first few weeks of school, while you’re still trying to establish a routine.

Back to School Pennant Banner Activities – All About Me, Math About Me, & More! – These FUN activities are perfect for students getting to know each other. There are 7 pennants/banners to be completed. Take students’ pictures on the first day of school, and add them to the ALL ABOUT ME pennant!

First Day of School Flipbooks — This is a fun activity for the first day of school. These flipbooks are available for 1st-4th grades. There is some prep on your part to put them together, but it shouldn’t take long.

Back to School Memory Book This back to school activity packet would make a wonderful memory book for students to take home as a keepsake. The worksheets and writing activities are PERFECT for the first week of school. This packet has 12 themed pages with some having a couple of different options. A Table of Contents is included. This packet is NOT grade specific, so if you change grade levels you might be able to use it again!

Blast Off IN … — Engage students in back to school writing with this fun rocket craft project/activity. Get your beginning of the year off right with students writing about “Blasting Off IN” their new grade. It has pages for students in 1st-6th grade. There are several options!

All About Me Frames — This back to school resource has several getting to know you writing activities. These are perfect for the first week of school. Students complete sentence frames all about themselves. These are great for independent activities. They are created to look like a frame. Students fill in sentences around the perimeter of the frame, and the inside is used for pictures!

First Week Writing Activities — These first week of school writing activities are great for seeing each student’s writing ability at the beginning of the year. The four writing activities are First Day of School, Letter to my Teacher, Questions for my Teacher, and My Family.

Back to School Paragraph — Teach students to write a five sentence paragraph. This back to school resource goes step by step in the writing process using graphic organizers. This helps students learn the proper paragraph structure, and it will help students make the most of their writing.

Want to save some money? Four of these activities are part of a Back to School Writing Activities Bundle!

So what do you do once the first few weeks of school have passed? Check out some AMAZING resources that you can use ALL YEAR!
