I am a mom to FIVE boys, ages 19, 16, 13, 12, and 3. What can I say….#5 was definitely a surprise! I’m a teacher, currently substituting because of our most adorable surprise.
I started substitute teaching in 2000. I got my teaching credential in 2001, and in August of that year I started my first year with a class full of 6th graders. I taught 6th grade for seven years. Then I was moved to 5th grade. I only spent a year in 5th because I then went on leave for two years to have babies #3 and 4. When I came back in 2011, things had changed! It was hard getting back into the swing of things. I was at a different school, I was teaching a grade I had never taught, and I now had 4 boys to come home to. Luckily, I spent the next nine years teaching with the most amazing women, and ended up loving teaching 3rd grade! In 2019 we got the surprise of a lifetime. We found out we were having baby boy #5. He arrived 3 weeks before the world shut down in March 2020. At the end of 2020 we made the big decision to move our family to a different state. I stay home mostly with my youngest, but I also substitute teach in grades K-6.
I started creating teacher resources in August 2021. I have a store on TPT, Made by Teachers, and Classful. All of my stores are called…you guessed it….Life with 5 Boys! A lot of the resources I make work well if you need to differentiate for your students. For example, in my resource How to Write a GOOD 5 Sentence Paragraph, I give ideas of how to help your struggling writers, as well as those who excel and need a challenge.
